"...these translations thus supersede former ones...if the introductions, translations, and other apparatus of the rest of the series are of the same high quality, the series will be indispensable for most libraries." Library Journal JULIAN OF NORWICH - SHOWINGS translated and introduced by Edmund Colledge, O.S.A., and James Walsh, S.J. As truly as God is our Father, so truly is God our Mother. What, do you wish to know your Lord's meaning in this thing. Know it well, love was his meaning...Who reveals it to you? Love. What did he reveal to you? Love. Why does he reveal it to you? For Love. Julian of Norwich, 1342-c.1423 Julian, an anchoress who lived in solitude in Norwich, England in the late 14th century, received the 16 "showings" or revelations of God's love in a series of experienced visions. The first version was a short text. The second, longer version was apparently written some years after the first, when she had had time to pray and reflect about the teachings God had given her. In the light of their thirteen years of work on the critical edition of Showings, Colledge and Walsh give us this first modern English rendering from the place of Julian's teaching in Catholic Spirituality. The editors present Julian as a skilled theologian and master of rhetorical style. Jean Leclercz, the noted monk, writer, and medievalist, in his preface addresses himself to the question, "Why is this an important work today?" Showings reveals a Julian who experienced God directly and not self-consciously as "our mother." Her revelations of the feminine side of God represent a significant contribution to the tradition. Her graphic visions of the humanity of Christ are marked by vivid imagery and detail. But the special appeal of Julian lies in her theology of the all- embracing fullness of divine love. Julian is certainly a warm and approachable companion for the mystical journey.Binding Type: Paperback

Our dogs new favorite toy
Color: Green Bird, Color: Green Bird
Our golden doodle loves this toy. He isn't a highly aggressive chewer necessarily, but he has been known to destroy toys by chewing on them and such. This one, so far, has lasted over a month or so. It has turned out to be his go to toy when he's wanting to play with one. The squeaker isn't that loud and it's not that easy to find. I like that legs are rope material and makes it good for tug of war, which Max loves to do.
The material is pretty sturdy and it is a good weight. Sometimes when the toys are too heavy Max won't catch them in the air, this one he catches in the air just fine. It's very cute and I think it will hold up just fine to our Max's level of chewing.
I felt the price was quite reasonable considering how much he likes it.

Fun squeaky toy that my dogs destroyed quickly
Color: Green Bird
My dogs were immediately obsessed with this toy.
The squeaker and bright bird shape got their attention right away, and they carried it around the house constantly for the first couple of days. The rope running through the middle also made it more fun for tug games.
The plush material is soft enough for carrying and cuddling, but because of that, it definitely was not long lasting with stronger chewers. Mine managed to tear into it fairly quickly despite really enjoying it.
That said, it kept them entertained the entire time it survived, and the squeaker held up longer than I expected.
I would recommend this more as a supervised play toy or fetch/tug toy rather than something for aggressive chewing sessions.
If your dog loves squeaky plush toys, this one is very fun while it lasts.

Bigger than expected, but my pup enjoys it
Color: Green Bird
This toy has been a great surprise for my dog. The green bird design is cute, but more importantly it’s actually held up really well to her throwing it around and chewing. The material feels sturdy, and the stitching has stayed intact even after lots of chewing, tugging, and carrying it around all day. It's bigger than I expected, but that hasn't deterred my Chihuahua. As a 2-1/2 year old with plenty of energy, she is definitely getting lots of use out of it!
What I like most is that it keeps my dog engaged — the squeaker grabs attention right away, and it’s perfect for interactive play like tug-of-war. It’s soft enough to be a comfort toy but durable enough to handle rough play, which is hard to find.
Overall, a fun and well-made toy that keeps my pup entertained and has lasted longer than many other dog toys I’ve tried. Definitely a good choice for dogs that love to chew and play hard.
