Description

Wang River and Tashichho Dzong, 2002I scramble up the road between the Wang River and the cows grazing along fairways of Thimphu's nine hole golf course, hoping to reach the covered bridge near the dzong before the rain I rush by an old woman with a basket of vegetables on her back, then a man leading a horse followed by a mangy dog. Just as the downpour begins I see my friend Ugyen Wangchuk whom everyone calls Wangchu. Hey, Wangchu! Kuzuzangpo! Kuzangpo John! Whats happening? Wangchu,

I scramble up the road between the Wang River and the cows grazing along fairways of Thimphu's nine-hole golf course, hoping to reach the covered bridge near the dzong before the rain…

...I rush by an old woman with a basket of vegetables on her back, then a man leading a horse followed by a mangy dog. Just as the downpour begins I see my friend Ugyen Wangchuk whom everyone calls “Wangchu.”

“Hey, Wangchu! Kuzuzangpo!”

“Ku’zangpo John! What’s happening?” Wangchu, who studied English for a year in Hawaii, grabs my tripod as we run under the cover of the bridge.

A slim, good-looking young man in a dark gho sewn from fashionable Bangkok cloth, Wangchu has an affable charm and bright smile that makes him instantly likable. A monk when he arrived in Hawaii, he left the monastery soon after returning to Bhutan, became a businessman, got married and learned the art of borrowing from Peter to pay Paul. One of the first phrases he learned in English, one he instantly understood, was “Go with the flow.” But his favorite saying is “No mind. No matter.”

When asked what he does for a living, Wangchu answers, “Whatever comes my way, just like everybody else!”

Like most Bhutanese in town, Wangchu has an extended family back in his village and a subsistence farm that he can fall back on if business goes bad. Many Bhutanese families have two homes —one at low elevation for the winter season and another higher up for summer crops and pasture.

Young Bhutanese are attracted to town by the lure of cash, the excitement of urban living and the status of “making it” in Thimphu, with government jobs holding the highest prestige. But the job seekers have been drawn by the hope of jobs; not the demand for workers. Unemployment in Thimphu rises, while young people hang out in billiard halls and street corners and good farmland lies fallow in many villages for lack of labor.

PHOTO PRINTS
Prints are on Hahnemuhle heavyweight (315 gsm) 100% archival cotton “Photo Rag Baryta” paper, using archival inks and archival spray coating. They have a 200-year life expectancy before any deterioration of the print will be observed when stored, handled, and displayed under archival conditions.

CANVAS PRINTS
What is often called “Gallery Wrap Canvas” is a fine art inkjet (Giclee) print on canvas, with printed edges to wrap around a wooden stretcher frame, like a painting. With canvas prints, your print image is still the same size, but given a "wrap effect" around the edges to account for the thickness of the stretcher. Canvas can be rolled and shipped with no effect to the print. Your local framing shop should be able to mount the canvas to stretchers at a fraction of the cost of traditional framing, making for an overall more economical way to get fine art on your wall. The canvas is printed to wrap around a 1-inch stretcher (1.5 inches on larger sizes). Specifications will be provided with your order. Feel free to contact us if you need guidance with your canvas order.

Best ever
Flavor Name: Banana Bread, Size: 25.4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I’ve tried a few others brands. This one is the best. I’ve drank flavored coffee for years. Banana bread is 10 star worthy, rich in flavor and it doesn’t take a lot. Very smooth. I like it alot. I’m not looking for another brand because I already know where it’s good. I don’t mess around with my coffee ☕️ 🍌 🌰 🍞

Try it in a carrot cake, it is yummy!!!
Flavor Name: Chai Tea Concentrate, Size: 25.4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I have without question been extremely happy with all of the DaVinci syrups, and products I have purchased. This chai syrup really was perfect for making chai lattes for my wife, and adding some chai flavor to other drinks, and I even used it in some cheesecake frosting, and inside of a carrot cake recipe, and it was perfect. I strongly suggest that you try it in carrot cake, and in other things like frosting. The chai carrot cake I made ended up being the perfect compliment to a nice cappuccino. I made a bunch of cupcakes using the carrot cake mix with the chai, and the chai cream cheese frosting, and with a nice coffee made the coffee taste better, and the carrot cake complimented the coffee perfectly. I have made them a few times now, and will say don't overdo and put too much frosting onto the carrot cake, and it is something I can't recommend enough. I actually have been using it more it making baked goods, and little desserts more then for chai lattes even. It just really works perfectly in them.

Comparing to the coffee giant version
Flavor Name: Brown Sugar, Size: 25.4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Flavor Name: Brown Sugar, Size: 25.4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Starbucks comparison (from a personal standpoint): I’m fortunate enough to have a bottle of Starbucks Brown Sugar. Problem is, I’m almost out. Looking around at some alternative options, and reading the reviews- I see some saying this is a good substitute. Because I happen to have the syrup on hand, I figured I should see if it is, because it would be great given the low cost of DaVinci syrup. This picture I’m attaching is just to see the color difference. Consistency wise, the DaVinci syrup is much lighter, more runny. The Starbucks is definitely a thicker liquid, that runs much slower. Flavor is the big one: DaVinci is lighter on taste, and sweeter. The best way to describe the flavor is comparing DaVinci’s to 100% real maple syrup that’s been diluted down with water. It’s good, but not really similar (in my opinion) to Starbucks Brown Sugar. Starbucks is more smokey in flavor, more strong/bold. My drinks are made using espresso, oak milk, cinnamon powder, and ice. I made my drink the same way, but used DaVinci Syrup this time. I found that the same amount of syrup that I use for the Starbucks, didn’t feel like it had a strong enough flavor. What did I do? I added an extra ounce of DaVinci hoping to get a stronger flavor. The problem is, DaVinci is more sweet than the Starbucks syrup (in my opinion) and ended up making my drink taste too sweet. It’s sweet enough that I’m not going to finish drinking it. I’m not knocking the DaVinci syrup itself. I think it’s a good brand and a good flavor. It’s just not the flavor I was hoping would solve my issue for a Starbucks imitation. I would encourage anyone to still try this syrup, but do so to enjoy it for being its own flavor.

Almost tastes like chocolate milk!
Flavor Name: Chocolate, Size: 11.5 Fl Oz (Pack of 12)
I usually dislike protein drinks. But I need It, and this one actually almost tastes like chocolate milk. I’ve tried the other flavors of this brand, and for me, this is the least protein tasting one. Banana came close.
